In this quick tip, we show you how easy it is to use the Canon Camera Connect app to shoot photos and videos remotely — a perfect hack for self-portraits, long exposures, or whenever you want to avoid camera shake.
First, connect your camera to the app on your mobile device. If you use Bluetooth, the app will automatically switch to Wi-Fi for a smoother connection during remote shooting, so make sure Wi-Fi is enabled on your device. Next, open the app and select Shoot or go to Functions > Remote Live View Shooting. Now, you’ll see exactly what your camera sees right on your phone or tablet screen.
From here, you can toggle between still images and video modes, adjust settings like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance, and even control focus—manually or automatically—right from your device. Tap the big on-screen button to take photos or start recording. For cameras paired via Bluetooth, you can also use the app as a remote shutter trigger without changing settings, ideal for time-lapses or group shots.
Before long, you’ll be capturing sharp, creative shots remotely, with zero camera shake and full control from your fingertips.
