Meet the New Canon EOS R8 Mark II

The EOS R8 Mark II is Canon's lightest EOS camera with In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS). It pairs a 24.2MP full-frame sensor with up to 7.5 stops of stabilisation, 40fps silent shooting and 4K 60p video oversampled from 6K for superior detail.

It builds on the EOS R8 with IBIS, a bigger buffer, a multi-controller and a redesigned body. The result is a full-frame camera you will actually want to carry all day.

FULL-FRAME QUALITY IN A TRAVEL-SIZED BODY

The EOS R8 Mark II weighs approximately 499g (body only), in an APS-C DSLR-sized body. Its full-frame sensor gathers roughly 2.5 times the light of an APS-C sensor, which gives you cleaner low-light images, wider angles of view and stronger background blur.

The handling is familiar EOS. A 3.0-inch Vari-Angle touchscreen swings out for low angles and self-facing shots, and a 2.36-million-dot electronic viewfinder gives you 100% coverage in bright light. The optional EG-E2 Extension Grip adds a taller hold for bigger lenses without blocking the battery door or tripod socket.

STABILISATION FOR HANDHELD SHOOTING

Up to 7.5 stops of IBIS lets you shoot sharp handheld photos and steadier video at sunrise, in market alleys and inside dim interiors. Coordinated Control works with the IS in your lens, and Peripheral Coordinated Control reduces blur at the edges of wide-angle frames.

IBIS is one of the biggest practical upgrade and is a step up for anyone who shoots without a tripod.

AUTOFOCUS THAT STAYS ON YOUR SUBJECT

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II uses deep learning to recognize and track people, animals and vehicles across the frame. It follows eyes, faces, heads and bodies, and it holds on when your subject is briefly blocked.

Register People Priority lets you save up to 10 faces in the camera, with further sets stored on the memory card. The camera then keeps your chosen people in focus in a crowd, in the order you set. Low-light AF is rated down to EV -7.5.

CATCH THE MOMENT BEFORE IT HAPPENS

The silent electronic shutter fires at up to 40fps. With pre-continuous shooting, the camera starts capturing about half a second before you fully press the shutter, giving you up to 20 extra frames to choose from.

The buffer holds up to 73 RAW files or 190 JPEGs in a single burst, for wildlife on safari or a street moment that lasts a second, that headroom matters.

VIDEO WITH ROOM TO GROW

Shoot 4K 60p oversampled from 6K for extra sharpness, or drop to Full HD at up to 180fps for slow motion. Canon Log 3 and Look File (LUT) support give you room to grade, and Movie Digital IS steadies handheld clips.

Four-channel audio, microphone and headphone terminals, a tally lamp and clean HDMI output cover the practical side. 2.35:1 Cinema View gives your frame a widescreen look while you shoot.

EASY TO SHARE, EASY TO POWER

USB-C charges the camera, lets you run it as a webcam for easy live streaming. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth handle fast image transfer, remote control and automatic cloud backup through image.canon.

Six custom shooting modes and a Photo/Movie switch let you jump between stills and video without digging through menus.
